The main feature of TurtleCell is the retracting mechanism that is able to store a full length (1000mm, 3ft) headphone cord within a very slim case profile (6.5mm). High quality headphones are provided, which gives the customer an above average audio experience. A one button locking mechanism is ergonomically located on the right side of the case for thumb operation. This button will allow the customer to lock the cord into any convenient length, which can then be fully retracted at any time by fully depressing the button again. A strong locking mechanism is attached to the button so that unwanted retraction is avoided.
The case also offers a hard plastic shell to protect the internal mechanism and the smart phone. The smart phone simply slides into the main body of the case and then a retaining piece is used to complete the phone encasement. Images of the current prototype for the iPhone 5 and computer generated model are provided below. TurtleCell plans to begin with the iPhone because of its market size, but then expand to the Samsung GSIII and Droid smart phones.
